Installation by artist Marie Retpen and sound artist Johannes Smed.
“Efterklang” is a scenographic art installation that tells a fictional narrative about the aftermath of a burned-down home in the forest.
Partially recognizable objects made from charred wood and glass pieces with imprints and sandblasted details from bedposts, pillows, books, etc., suggest remnants of the home’s interior.
The viewer is invited to step into the installation, where the water from the fire’s extinguishing, along with the dripping soundtrack, enhances the simultaneously sorrowful, beautiful, and poetic atmosphere.
The installation was made for the Davinde Festival 2024 and supported by Statens Kunstfond (The Danish Arts Foundation), Real Dania, Dansk Artist Forbund, and Odense Municipality’s Cultural Fund.
